Public Safety Priorities and Accountability

  • Adopt resolution setting the “8CantWait” use of force policies as hundreds of cities in California and our region have like Roseville,  Elk GroveSacramento, Folsom, Rocklin .

  • Implement annual Implicit Bias training for Police department, City Staff and City Council.

  • Adopt resolution creating policy that requires annual report from RCPD,  which will be made publicly available on RCPD web site, as many police departments do, like Citrus Heights and Elk Grove have done for over a decade since forming their own police departments, canceling their contract  with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department

  • Adopt resolution requiring RCPD make it’s departmental policies available on it’s web site, as Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, Folsom and many other police departments do in our region and state.

  • Adopt resolution requiring RCPD contract and budget be made available online on the RCPD web site

  • Expand Traffic / Speed Enforcement

  • Increase DUI Enforcement

  • Increase Transit Station and train safety

  • Work with  CRPD and Sacramento County to improve American River Parkway safety

  • Ensuring parks are not nuisances, work with park district to establish

    • after hours on street parking restriction zones

    • ParkWatch/Neighborhood Watch groups

  • Open RCPD Service Center for Sunrise Douglas/Anatolia neighborhoods
